I'm using 8.5

is there a limit to the number of subtotal fields you can have on one report?

I have three groups, each has 12 fields that need to be subtotaled for each group. Everything was fine until I got to the 12th field and the "OK" button on the insert subtotals screen was grayed out.

There is nothing unusual about the field, it is a formula, but it is almost identical to the formula next to it, which subtotaled just fine.

Is there a limit on subtotal fields? If so, does anyone know a work around?

Thank you

There isn't a problem with the number of subtotals you have. What kind of data are you trying to subtotal? Will a running total field work in its place?

Please post your formula that you are trying to subtotal. You are probably using a function that causes the formula to be evaluated when the records are being printed. In order for a formula to be able to have a subtotal created off of it, the formula has to be able to be evaluated while records are being read.

Take a look at the topic "multi-pass reporting" in the help files that are provided with the CR Designer.

One other thing you may want to try is looking to see if you have already inserted a subtotal for that field. I have done this before. I have inserted a subtotal, moved it on the report, forgot I inserted it and then when you go to insert the subtotal again for that field the OK button is greyed out because you have it already in the report.

Drove me crazy a few times.
