I need to know how to subtotal or total a field that is alpha number in the report. the table i am using is called oh_cukey and the function used is =sum([oh_cukey]), in the query I used group by clause. Unfortunately whenever I ran the report it will not total or subtotal by customer number. For example: on the report there is a column called CUSTOMER NUMBER and underneath this column are the customer numbers --> CUSTOMER NUMBER
AAAA0181
AAAA0181
ABSC4449
ABSC4449
ABSC4449
ABSC4449
AERO0500
AERO0500
Seeing my example what I now need is subtotal them by customer. Above sample you will 3 different customer number and each customer number is link to its customer name. Like I said above whenever I ran the report it will not total or subtotal by customer number. It will only give me the last number entry on that page. In this example it will only give me AERO0500 for all of them and it will not group it.

Please help, I need help of how to group these by customer number and at the bottom of each group is the subtotal of each customer number.

Also when the report is said and done I will need in the form to be able to view the report by summary or by detail.

Please help this is an urgent matter that I had been working for the last 2 weeks. Should you need more information and have more questions, please email them to me asap so I can reply to it right away.

Thank you for your immediate attention and cooperation in this matter

Sincerely,
Rej

on the report design page, click on the groups button to set up group levels on the report itself (not on the query)

then you can specify what details to go into the values in each group and what details to go into the headder and footers of the group (assuming you've switched headders and footers on)

once you've done that, just put the sum values in the group headder/footer section...
