I'm trying to export an Access 97 report as an Excel 97 file to Excel 2000 and when I do, I get a "Subscript out of range" error. Unfortunately, I do not understand the Help on this topic......

The report has totals in a footer if that means anything....

Thanks! Excuse my confusion....it's only temporary......

Hi,
If you are doing this manually, and the report is based on a query, simply run the query and see the data. Click on Edit, then "Select all records". Open up Excel, and "paste".

On the other hand, if you are doing this with VBA code, you may need to see if you have the Microsoft Excel #.# (e.g., 8.0, 9.0) Object Library turned on. Go to the Visual Basic code window, and click on the Tools menu item. Next, click References. All of the items with check boxes are available to your entire database. You may also need to add the Microsoft Office #.# Object Library. HTH, [pc2]

Thanks Randy, but copying and pasting from the query won't work--the report summarizes the data in the report's footers....... Excuse my confusion....it's only temporary......

So,
Are you trying to export the entire report to Excel, the detail only, or just the summary in the report footer?

I just tried an experiment, and sure enough, the information in the report footer is not sent to the spreadsheet. I will do a bit of research on this tomorrow when I return to work, and will let you know the results.
