Subscriber Password issue

Hi All,
MM4.0. with MSS backend. Subscriber password expires on a 90 interval.
Here's the question:
What happens when a user falls into that 90-100 day period and doesn't get the message that their mlbx pwd will expire in x amount of days and asks to change the pwd. Will it still state the pwd will expire in x amount of days or will it just lock the user out.

We have 5 users out of 140 that rarely check their vm and complained about not being able to get into their vm. The boxes aren't locked out of.

Any ideas would be great.

It should let them in with the old password and then force them to change it.
