Is is possible to take the value from a linked subreport and use it in your main report?

Absolutely. In the sub report, create a formula with a shared variable (shared numbervar x ) and assign it the value you want to pass, just like you would assing a value to any variable. In the main report, in a section below where the sub report is located, create another formula which calls the shared variable. All you have to do is declare it, and then save. The value from the sub report should pass to the main.
