I have 2 tables that have a parent/child relationship. I am using a subreport to include the child info on the report. I will rarely have a child record.

When the report is displayed, there is a blank area where the subreport info would print - if there is a child.
This is making the report several pages longer since it appears that lines have 3 blank lines between each line of data.

Is there any way to have access ignore the subreport area if there are no child records and print the next parent on that line?

According to my knowledge u have to hot code in the preview form load to supress that fields by checking condition. For adjusting fields u have to write 2 functions and to call that in preview form load.I had done these things in my project for 50 reports but i cann't explain all through posting very easily.

Hi there.

If you can overwrite the methods, set the "onrow" method of the object to see if there is a child record available and then set the height of the frame to either zero or the actual frame height. Then when there is no child record, the frame will be zero size and not take up a line (or 3).

Cheers, Oggy.

p.s. Oh my god, I just realised how old this post was.
