SubReport(s) show no data in unbound Main report

hi there,

i have 2 subReports based on 2 different queries that i would like to place into a report. for some reason i can't get them to show any data after placing them into the main report; they do work correctly when run independantly.

the Main report is unbound to any recordsource, and simply serves as a container for the subs. any thoughts on this? thanks =)

both of the subReports are based on parameter queries, however, the parameter values are from a single form, only entered once. i thought this may have something to do with it, yet during testing i was able to open both reports separately using only one open action from the form. both of them executed without error.

A sub report is a report which bases its output on the query in the main report.

Eg. If the main report is showing one employee's details then the sub report will have a linked field to the main report (parent) so that its query output will be focused on that one employee.

When you say that your main form has no record source, that means that your sub-report can not work.

Maybe you believe that a sub report is just any report that can be placed within a main report.

the following is a doc from MSDN, perhaps i'm misreading the first statement about multiple reports containing data from unrelated records?
