Hi,
I have a main report that displays 5 winner's names and other fields associated with that winner (like location, email, phone, etc.) in the "justified" format.
This is for the staff to locate the winners.

Name, location, email, wk phone, cell phone,
t-shirt size, etc.

I want a subreport that will display the 5 winner's names and location only in tabular format. This will print on the second page so it can be posted on a bulletin board.

Name, Location

No matter what I do, I only get 1 name and location showing up in the subreport.

I have tried to base the subreport on a table and link the primary key IDs, link the name & location, etc.

I've tried to base the subreport on the same qry as the main report and have no parent/child linking.

Every time, I get the first page (main report detail section) listing the 5 winners for the staff, and the subreport only showing one name and location. Is there a trick to this? Am I missing something?

Any help would be appreciated!
Thank you!!

Explain how you make the subreport print on the second page please?

It is most likely that you are putting the subreport in the wrong place and linking it properly, or putting the subreport in right place and linking it incorrectly for what you want.

From what you have described, you will need to create your subreport and save it. This subreport is a standalon report so you make it look perfect.

Then in your main report, make it look perfect on it's own.

In the Report Footer of your main report, place the subreport BUT DO NOT LINK it to the main report.

Should work as you want it. What I think you did was link your sub and main. remember that at any one time, your report is only accessing a single record in your main report at once. When it's done with the detail section then the last record it accessed will be the one you are linking to, hence only one line in the sub report.

Thanks so much for your reply - I know it is really difficult to help in situations like this where you can't see what I'm doing. I've tried to figure this out for about a month, going back to it when I think I'm fresh - and I can't figure it out.

I have the subreport working fine when it is not in the main report and based on the same query as the main report. It displays the name and location of the 5 winners.

When I put the subreport in the ReportFooter of the main report, it only displays the LAST record of the 5 records that display in the main report. No linking. Parent and child link is left blank.

I tried everything I could think of - grow/shrink=Yes, etc.

So then I tried linking using a subreport based on a table, thinking it might work, but that didn't work either, still only displays the last record that displays in the main report.

Any other ideas on what I can try or change? Or any other information that I can provide that will be helpful?

Thank you so much for helping!!

Oh My Gosh!!! It works!

I made a new main report and a new subreport based on the same query, no linking - and now it works.

I don't know what was wrong before - but thank you so much for your help, it made me recreate everything :)

And I also learned about the last record-linking thing.

Thanks so much!!
