Hello,

I'm using Crystal Reports and Info 7.0 and NT 4.

I have a report that has two stand alone subreports. A number field in the Main report and a number field in one of the subreports should always match. When I run the report manually, the fields always do match.

When it is scheduled to run at night, the fields often do not match. I have not been able to duplicate the problem by running the report manually. Our database consultant has reveiwed the report field by field and he says that the fields, formulas and links I'm using are correct.

Has anyone else run accross a problem like this? Is there anything else I should check for?

Thank you

Never heard of the problem, myself.

What happens if you schedule it to run during the day? Or if you run it manually at night.

It may have something to do with when it is run, rather than the fact that it is scheduled.

What are the numbers that should match?
How far off are they?
How long does the report take to run?
Which section of the report is the subreport in that has the error?

I scheduled it a couple of times today, and it was OK, but it's an intermitant problem with the nightly run.

The number in the main report is total sales grouped by the first three letters of a customer ID. The subreport selects by the first three letters of the customer ID (only one of the groups in the main report) and then groups by a second field. I'm looking at the total of the all the second field groups in the subreport and expecting it to match the total for the first three letters grouping in the main report that matched the selection in the subreport.

The amount off varies, it's usually between 5% and 10%.

It takes about 2 or 3 minites to run, but it runs at a time when no one is in the system.

The subreport is in the section "report footer a"

Thank you

Nothing that I can think of would cause this.

Intermittant, and it only happens at night, and you can't replicate it during the day.

To troubleshoot:

Is the subreport always higher or lower or does it vary?

I assume that both reports should use the exact same records in each section. Is the subreport getting a different number of records or is it adding up these exact same records and getting a different total? You may need to add a count total to both reports to see the difference.

Anything else unusual about the times that it fails?

The subreport is lower. I've added a count to both and will watch it over the next couple of days, I don't know why I didn't think of that ;-).

I checked all my scheduled reports to make sure that none of them were running long or otherwise conflicting (if that would make a difference).

I have a macro in the database that is scheduled to run an hour before the reports start. The macro is just a day end update sort of thing that is part of the database software. I don't think it could be causing it, although I've been seeing problems in other modules where it's not updateing some temporary fields... I'll bring that up with the database consultants (again).

Thank you
