Is thee a way to force a sub-report to run even though no records were found in the main report? i.e. We have a subreport containing a single cViewImage containing a screen snapshot of the controlling report dialog. The report is in the outer report footer and works perfectly except in situations where the outer report finds no records.

Ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Paul

Try going to file->report options and unchecking "Suppress printing if no records".

Nope! We already had done that. For some reason, when no records are found in the main report, the sub report never fires.

Does anything else print when there are no records? Maybe you should have a section that prints only when there are no records, based on putting an InNull test on a record field.

It helps to give your Crystal version, since newer versions have extra options, and some extra problems. My workplace is currently upgrading from Crystal 8.5 to Crystal 10, both using databases created by SQL 8.

Yes. The linked sub-report has a single image populated by the cViewImage data source.

That means if there is no data in main report the sub report is getting null valus. Do you have a common parameter in two reports? Do u have a link based on parameter? or share variable?
