Subreport detail section displays on screen but WON'T PRINT

I have subreport that will display correctly on screen with Print Preview but when I actually print it out, the details section does not show. (FYI-If you export this report to Excel, the detail section will show there.) The subreport has information in the group header that prints fine. The detail section is suppressed if the piece_no is null. When I print it out, you can see the report leaving room for the detail section information, and if the detail section is null, there is no space for it. It is like the report knows the information is there but won't show it when printed. One more strange thing. I have a set of these reports printed from 3/29/02 that worked. The ones printed on 4/10/02 did not. I restored a backup from 3/29/02 and that restored file now has the same strange behavior, even though it must have been working on 3/29/02.

the subreport will not work if it is placed in a main report section that is even only conditionally suppressed. Jim

The subreport is in the footer of the main report, which is not suppressed, even conditionally. We were using version 8 of Crystal and now upgraded to 8.5 and that fixed the problem.
