I'm attempting to figure out how someone subnetted a network. I have 3 locations right now. The first location is using a class B 255.255.0.0 that assigns everything from 172.25.1.1 - 172.25.13.254. The second location is setup as Class C 255.255.255.0 but is using the range of 172.25.127.1 - 172.25.127.254. Isn't this wrong? If it's in class C shouldn't it be usinging something similar to 192.168.1.1 or does it not matter? In sticking with this setup, can I use a class C at location 3 with 172.25.126.1-254? Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, it is wrong

A subnet mask of 255.255.0.0 on network 172.25.0.0 means that the specific network can use from 172.25.0.1 to 172.25.255.254 for addresses.

If there is another network somewhere with the address range 172.25.127.0 with a mask of 255.255.255.0, then there could be a routing conflict in the future.

what you should do is shorten the mask of the initial network to 255.255.240.0 which will give you addresses 172.25.0.1 to 172.25.15.254.

Then the other networks, 172.25.127.0/24 and 172.25.126.0/24 will not conflict with the first network.
