Hi there,
I'm gonna try to take the cisco ccna exam the next few weeks. Now I have one question...
Someone told me that in the ccna test you need to take care with subnet zero.
As far as his opinion is concerned cisco will still exclude subnet zero and the last subnet of a network in subnetting questions.
In the BSCI exam though they will ask you to include subnet zero in subnetting questions.
Is this right? This doesn't make any sense to me...

Thank's for any answers,
busche

Parcival21,
From my experience having taken (and passing) 4 different Cisco exams - they will make it clear what they are looking for..... BUT it might be in a round about way such as.

They my say the router is setup by default (which allows subnet 0) or they may say that the command "no ip subnet 0" has been issued.

If you do not understand what is "on" by default of what a specific command does you will not be able to answer the question correctly.

The best way to understand a Cisco exam is to understand that most question are testing you on several different plains - to understand and answer a question you might need to understand a word or concept in the question, so not only are they testing that you know the right answer but also that you understand several concepts.

Best advice - do not look for 100% sure things such as "do not worry about . . . . " if it is an objective of the CCNA exam - understand it well !!!

How do I get ready -

I use Cisco Press books, CBT Nuggets, flash cards and finish with Sybex books and practice tests.

I also have a CCNA/CCNP lab of Cisco 831 and 2500 routers, I have access at work to a test lab of Cisco 2600 routers and I have 6-7 different router sim programs - I think the Cisco Press/Boson is one of the best for the money !!

Good luck on you study and exam.

I hope this helps !!!
