subnav menu w/ rollover images from main nav menu w/ rollover images

The subject says it all, but I've got a site I'm laying out that has one row that contains our main nav menu table that consists of basic rollover images. The tricky part is, I need to have a row below that which will display a corresponding rollover sub-nav menu. And each sub-nav menu differs in the # of items, the width of the images used, etc.

This seems tricky. Can anyone offer any advice here? Any sample sites or links on how to get this accomplished? Thanks.

Take a look at

http://www.coedit.co.uk

since it does something similar (although rather than using images, it uses text - but that is a trivial change to change to use images). It uses an unordered list and is managed entirely through CSS.
