I have been working with one of my clients in an attempt to increase the search engine ranking of her website. Using Web Position Gold, I have been fairly sucessful by optimizing the content of the website to match her desired keywords. One thing I have noticed is that Google seems to take forever to pick up the changes. Should I be submitting the new and updated pages one by one, or is resubmitting the index good enough?

I personally wouldn't be using web position gold anywhere near Google as it breaks the Google TOS

(automated querying)

I would suggest that the time is better spent making sure the site navigation structure is sound, as the Googlebot will follow these links rather than you submitting pages. Resubmitting to any search engine or directory is a waste of time and can, with some engines actually have a negative effect, It may have been the thing to do in 1997, and many so called SEOs seem to think it's the only way to get noticed. WRONG!
The things you need to get good results are some good relevant links, preferably not reciprocal and definitely not from FFAs, a well designed and optimized (anchor text) site navigation structure and some good content.
