i cant figure this out!!!! im trying to create a submission form in flash but i cant get it to send the information to my email. how do i do it???????

hi cypher,

you have to use a third-party script such as ASP/PHP/CGI to send a form directly to e-mail, otherwise you can only use the mailto: action which pop-s up the users e-mail client such as Outlook Express.

There'a an FAQ in the FAQ section which includes a form using PHP, and another (I think) which uses CGI.

where do i use the third party scripts and how. im not familiar with them. do i use them in flash, my email, or another website????

they are server-side scripts. You have to check with your host to see if they will work on your server.

Most servers support CGI, some support PHP as well, some support ASP rather than PHP.

You'll just have to go to the FAQ section of your hosts site and ask.

The FAQ I wrote for utilising a PHP script gives instructions on what you have to do. Basically the Flash movie asks this script, which you upload to your server along with your movie, to take the variables the user has written into the form, and send them onto your e-mail address.
