Subforms blank after migrating to SQL2000

I have a working A2k MDB and moved the tables to SQL2000. Now, instead of the subforms allowing data entry, they are completely blank and the record navigation buttons are grayed out. If a form had data in the subform before, those subform records show up just fine (and I can edit/delete them) but if a form's subform is empty (no records) it doesn't show any fields so I can't enter new data. What do I have to change to get the subforms to work the way they did before?
