Hi,

I have a parts index at the end of a catalog I'm creating.
There are three columns (Part name, number and page number)
These fields are in a subform.
When the catalog is published, this is what the parts index looks like.

Part Name Part #and Page #
Records...

What I want is something like this.

Part Name Part # Page # Part Name Part # Page #

In other words I would like to have the subform
repeat on the same page. So, the first subform might display records 1-25, for example, and the second subform, records 25-50. This way, I will get more records on one
page. Does anyone know if this is possible or how it would be done?

Thanks a ton for any help.

You can do this in page setup. Choose 2 columns, and be sure to set the column width if you have any section wider than half your page. Also, you'll probably want to change the order from the (annoying to me) default of Across-then-Down to Down-then-Across.

Hi,

Thanks for the tip. I understand what you're saying.
I only want the two columns for a footer section of
my report (this is where my parts index is). Is this possible? To create two columns
in only one section of the report?

Thanks,
MBaddar

That I don't know. Have only ever done it in the detail section. Try getting the subreport itself to print in columns, then see if the settings will carry over, I guess.

Hi,

Thanks a lot! I just did the page setup for the subform itself and that seems to be working. However, the labels
for Part, Number and Page # are not repeating. They're
only showing up on the Parts list on the left
side of the page and not the right. Do you know
why this is happening?

I would like these labels, Part Name, Part #, and Page #
to be at the top of the parts index on the left and right side of my page.

Thanks,
MBaddar

I'm pretty sure that the column settings only apply to the detail section, but you can just duplicate the labels in your heading section - it will print all the way across even if wider than your column setting.

You mean, physically, copy and paste the heading labels so I have the labels, Part Name, #, etc. on the left and then again on the right?
I really only want the heading labels to print again
if there are enough records to generate a second column. Would duplicating the headers allow for that (only printing
again if a second column is generated_?

Thanks again,
MBaddar

You could probably make the second set of labels invisible On Format of the header section, but you would have to come up with a way of knowing how many columns were going to print before you even print the header. Will there be one line per record and the same number of records fitting in a column every time? Will this be continuous over several pages or confined to one at a time? Etc.?

Hi Tempclerk,

The other day I mistakingly thought I solved my problem but I didn't. You suggested that I try to change the column settings for the subform to 2 columns and see if those
settings carried over to my main form. I think as you suggested, they did not, unfortunately.

Sorry I didn't check this the first time (got sidetracked with another project). Do you know of any other way I
can get this subreport to print in two columns in my main report?

Thanks,
MBaddar
