Hello all,

I've searched through the threads and cannot find an answer.
I have a two subforms that do not display in form view, but I can see them in design view. When I open them individually I can see the controls.

Any ideas?

thanks in advance :)

There may be a few reasons. For example, if Allow Additions is set to No and the recordset does not return any records, there is nothing to show.

As Remou said,

also in conjunction with Allow Additions set to NO, you may have DATA ENTRY set to YES

Thanks. I checked both and allow additions is set to YES. DATA entry is set to yes as well. I want to allow additons and allow data entry. This is an input form. Any other ideas? I do not have any data right now in the underlying tables, but there will be data entered and I was hoping to do it via the input form.

thanks!

Did you check the VISIBLE property of the subform?

You may need to check it twice, as a form and as a subform..

If Data Entry is set to Yes, you must check that the recordset can be updated. Set Data Entry to No and try and change some field.

Also,

Not a bad idea to check the queries that each subform is based upon, see if you can add, edit, or view data at that level....

Thank you all for your ideas :)

I have checked everything you've asked. I am able to add/edit/view data at each level in the tables and or queries for the subforms. I also can add a record when data entry yes, and not when set to no.

I just can't seem to figure it out....

thanks again!

I am getting a little lost, I thought the problem was:
I have a two subforms that do not display in form view ...
What is the current problem?

And you can view the subforms, not as subforms, but as a FORM?.........as if you were going to make changes in the design from the database window instead of thru the parent/child relationship?

And the final thing I would check is the relationship between form/subform, are the data types and fields in synch.

If all those things check out, I'd probably try to simply recreate the form/subform to see if its some corruption issue or some crazy setting that is unfindable

Remou, that is still the problem. I was responding to KNICKS suggestion to check the underlying queries/tables to see if they were updatable.

KNICKS, I can view the subforms as FORMs, but when I open the main form with the subforms embedded I do not see the subforms in form view.

thank you both! I will keep trying to troubleshoot. I just hate when things like that eat up your time. I bet it will be something obvious too. :)

Have a great day!

If you find out what it was, make sure to post it.

You'd be surprised how often I find an answer to an odd problem by running a search on keywords and getting a hit in the archives...

A public record for all..........

I will do that. I would not like anybody else having this same problem.

:)

Is your Link Child Fields & Link Master Fields set up correctly in your subform in the Main Form?
