We have one LAN with Windows 2000 domain now. We need to set a new LAN due middle of January. New LAN will be in a separate site with own Windows 2000 domain. There is no possibility to connect the new and existing LAN now, but things will change after some months and then we can connect both networks.
Both LANs need to work separated about 3 months and then they will be connected. Users should be able to logon in both networks with their laptops and access resources on both LANs all this time.
I see two possibilities - subdomain (which is better for naming and administration reasons), or new domain and trust with existing domain. How do you think, which model to choose? Or there is better solution?
Domain trusts will not work, if domains are not interconnected, if I understand correctly. So, do I need to make user accounts for every employee in both domains, or there is workaround?
