Sub reports

Ok, it looks like this isn't going to work like Access, where you just drag the sub to the main and then get a nice little dialog to link up the keys, so, what exactly is the method for adding a sub report? Both the main and the sub take a common parameter. The error I am getting is that the sub report was expecting this parameter and didn't get it. How do I pass a parameter to the sub, or is there something else I'm missing?

On your main report, right-click the subreport, choose subreport properties, and then the parameters tab. You can add or remove parameters in the dialog.

The problem turned out to be what seems to be a second some what redundat creation of a data source done from the Report Data window. Once I figured that out, all was well.
