sub reports printing on page 2 does not increment page#

When the detail data has printed and the subreport rolls over to page 2 because the subreport is on the footer crystal reports does not increment the page count. is this not possible? Please advise. Thank you.
 
"the subreport is on the footer" means the page footer, group footer, or report footer? Malcolm
