I have a report based on a query.

I want to add a sub-report to into the report in the report footer. It's based on a query which is based on the same data but is an aggregated view of it, I want to see this summary once which is why I'm putting it in the report footer.

The only parameter for the report is the date, both the report and sub report need to filter by the date entered by the report user.

I want the user to be prompted only once and the same date be used in the main report and the sub report, currently i get ptompted 2 or more times. It's quite easy to do this in Crystal using sub report linking but I haven't been able to get it to work in MS Access.

Can anyone explain how I can do thios?

Thanks.

You should never use parameter prompts in queries. Always use controls on forms to allow users to enter criteria. This allows
[li]provide defaults[/li]
[li]check integrity[/li]
[li]use combo and/or list boxes[/li]
[li]users can view multiple criteria at once[/li]
[li]criteria persist for multiple usages[/li]
[li]use in reports and subreports[/li]
[li]prompts with descriptions[/li]
Can you do all of this in Crystal?

I don't have a form, I have a query and a report. Can I put the control on one of those or are you saying I need to build a form that accepts the users input then runs the report?

Create a form or use an existing one. Open the form, fill in the controls and run the report.
