Sub-report Help, or ??

Hello!

I have this report that I have tried various things with and keep having a variety of problems.... I have one table with all the data in it. Here is what I need:

(Group) Dept 1
Complaint # date status
Complaint # date status
Complaint # date status
etc...

(Group) Dept 2
Complaint # date status
Complaint # date status
Complaint # date status
etc..

My problem is that the various departments are all separate fields, and the complaint #'s can be within more that one department grouping.

I have tried creating separate sub-reports for each group, then pulling to the main report, yet not all of the sub-reports will return the correct data??

I know this must be simple, I just cannot get it right!
