this maybe simple.. but can i make a subreport using the subtotals and totals in the main report? this would avoid developing a painfull cross tabs report.. which i dont know how to do anyway.

thanks ;-)

A subreport has to read the database. You can't reread the data from the main report.

Cross-tabs allow you to resummarize the main report. I find them simpler than subreports, although they have limitations.

thanks Ken
i created a detail report for product sales, with subtotals(3) and grand totals for the same. the financial person this report is for just wants a one pager summary similar to a pivot table (cross tabs?) i thought i could include this in one report. other wise i guess i have to do cross tabs.. never done one :( the cross tabs will need to have summary totals ($$$ and quantity) for each product line vs product catagory. i dont know enough of how cross tabs works to properly explain it.

thanks again

Cross-tabs are my favorite objects:

Use the menu options Insert Cross-tab:
Make Product line the row field
Make Prod Cat the column field
Put two summarized fields in that are always filled in:

A character field will generate a count by default (use one that is always filled in), a numeric will do a sum. Ken Hamady
