Style sheets and keyboard shortcuts

We are testing Quark 6 with OS10X, Mac

The problem we have is that you cannot assign a keyboard shortcut to your style sheets, whether paragraph or character style. The cursor won't show up in the box for the shortcut, and therefore you can't type your shortcut in. We tried tabbing there also.

We have tried creating a new style sheet, even a new document, and still cannot type in a keyboard shortcut.

The odd thing is, sometimes it does work, but not often enough. it is very frustrating.

Clicking in the shortcut window then just type the shortcut key...and presto

Thank you, but we do click in the shortcut box. The cursor does not appear. And we cannot type. It is like it is frozen, but it isn't. We've done this for years in Quark 4, so know what we are doing. And, as I said, sometimes it will work in some documents, but today, it is not working in any. We've quit Quark and restarted as well with no change.

The cursor doesn't appear in mine either.
I click in the shortcut box and type eg. F1, and shows up.
If it still doesn't work then maybe reinstall

We tried that, even tabbing from the previous box. We've tried everything but a reinstall. Will have to talk to our Mac expert about that.

We may have found a clue. As we are in the testing stage of OS10 and Quark 6, we are recreating documents we set up in Quark 4 and OS9 to Quark 6 and OS10. So, in the process, we refer back to the older document at times to check fonts, styles, etc. One of our designers noticed that the problem occurs only when the old and new documents were open at the same time. This may account for the "sometimes works; sometimes doesn't work" situation.

I believe if we resave that older document in Quark 6 this will eliminate the problem. A few other problems were also noted when a Quark 4 and Quark 6 document were open at the same time, and those disappeared as well when closing the older document. Does anyone know if this is a bug that was fixed in an update?
