Hi everyone,

I have a file that I've placed into InDesign from Word. I need to replace all instances of a symbol character (it's an x character within the symbol font) with a character style which specifies another font and other properties for this symbol. I went into the find/change dialogue and under find format settings, I clicked on the format button and then under basic character settings I chose symbol medium. Then under change format settings, I clicked on the format button and then under style options I selected the character style that I wanted the symbol character to take on, but when it found the first instance of the symbol character and I chose change, the symbol character was deleted but in its place was just an empty space that was highlighted in that red colour as if to say the font was missing. When I highlight the empty character and checked to see what font it was, it said it's the new character that I was after but no character is visible - also it's saying that the space has the specified character style applied. Does anyone know what the problem might be here?

Thanks for any help offered
