The person who setup our phone system is no longer with our company and I am trying to figure out how it works and everything. I have most of it figured out using the software we have, but I'm down to 1 step keeping me from finishing. I am adding a new line, and I can't figure out where you specify what Card/Port # that line is linked to. I'm used to a TD500 we also use, and know where to do that, but can't find the equivalent to the Extension line Card No./Port No. settings in the 1232.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thank you.

put system into prog mode (*# **** ) input user no:

1. Enter 400.
Display: CO Connection
2. Press sp phone.
Display: CO Line NO:
3. Enter a CO line number. ie 06
Display: CO06: not Connect
4. Keep pressing auto ans/mute until connect is displayed.
5. Press autodial/STORE.

once you programe the line you must have a button on the phone to use it

press prog
dial 99
press a spare co button
dial 0
dial line no: (ie) 6
press autodial/store

hope this helps ....you will need the line button programed on all phones who require it.....

I just realized I phrased what I meant wrong..ugh..sorry.

What I am trying to do is just add a new phone using the existing lines that are already there. I have the user setup as far as I can tell, in the software that was on the machine hooked up to the phone system, but I can not figure out where to specify where that users phone is connected to on the wall....

Any help w/ that would be great..thanks

your post is a bit hard to understand but here is what i can gather from it

you have a a new ext added to the system an you need to know what port on the system he is connected to

if so
press prog
dial 99
dial 6
the ext & port(jack)no: will be displayed on screen

or is it a case that the phone is not yet working and you need to know how to install???

Yes, it is the 2nd case where the phone isn't working yet...sorry I'm pretty new to some of this phone system stuff to phrasing it in a way that is easy to understand is sometimes harder than it should be.

Thanks :)

its ok

lets start at the wall side (new users desk )do they have a wall socket to plug the phone into ??
if not they will require a single pair of wires from that location back to the phone system..

if they have a socket
what type of scoket is it ?? is it cat 5 (ie does it look like the socket you plug your computer into...

if it does it have a number printed on it does it go back to a patch panel (a bar with lots of simmular sobkets

I have the phone wired via our wiring closets all the way to a thing on the wall where the other couple phones in that office go to. That's where I run into the problem, not sure how to tell this phone system where that phone is, on the TD500 we have over here under line settings I just set the card number and port, but no clue how to do it with the 1232 since I hadn't ever even touched it until a week ago..

on the 12-32 you dont need to identify its location or port no: if the phone is correctly connected to the phone system it will power up with the that info itself
im starting to ynderstand where your comming from now the dbs system was simmular to the 500 in that you had to assine the extno: & port no to it or it would not work...in the kxtd the relevent info comes pre assigned to the port on the system with exts running from ext 101 to 132...
if its not got the info (ie time on the display when you plug it in ) then the wireing or phone type is wrong

ahh..that would explain it..i might need to try a different port then :)

thanks a lot for your help, i'll post back if i get it to work or not when i run across the street in a few minutes over to that office :)

thanks again

im online for a couple of hours so feel free to ask
thats what were for

Haven't gotten over there yet, but quick question that comes to mind..once the phone works how do I let it know which extension it is?

it will have a no: once you power it up
you can chk this by doing the following

press prog
dial 99
dial 6
the ext & port(jack)no: will be displayed on screen

Ok, so I'm trying to just hook the phone directly to the port in the wiring closet, and all that happens is a get a very low buzz coming from the phone..no lights or anything coming on..any ideas?

you have the digi phone conneced to a annalog port

OK! Yay! I have the phone working, internally... I can make a call to that extension from inside the office, problem is it can't make calls, it just says CO if you pick up the phone...totally clueless on this phone system, I like the TD500 better :p ..
Any suggestions on how to get it to grab an outside line when picked up?

nm..that was user error and my mistake of not testing it myself instead of just the user..

Thanks a bunch rivet you were extremely helpful :)

the ph could set as a hot line to clear

leave the handset down type 790 then press speaker phone button you should hear a long beep
then try to use the phone as normal

test 2 type another ext no: see if that works

test 3 replace the phone with a known working phone & chk

if none of above work then you still have a wireing problem
