hi guys,

this question just came to my mind.
If i need to map to another network drive which is in a different network segment.
Will this work? If not, I need to open ports on the firewall?
What are the port no. btw?

thanks in advance

it depens on the connection. can you ping the remote ip? if yes, can you ping the remore computer name? if yes, what do you get if using net view \\computername?

ha.. i can't ping to the remote ip addr.
totally different network segment and worst of all my workstations sitting on an extranet. :(

Hi,
You need to declare the machines and subnets used on each side of the firewall that you want to map.
Either <all> protocols or <any> to pass on the same rule.
Put this rule in quite early to eliminate any other rule from blocking your traffic.

Hope this helps you,
Jock
