Hello,
I jsut need to know how to make excel not turn numbers I input into cells into dates.

ie. If I type 5-9 I do not want it to change that to 5/9/2006. I just want it to stay 5-9.

Hi

Just format the cells as "text" rather than as the default "General" format.

Cheers
Karen

If you want to just do one on the fly, you can type in an apostrophe before the numbers. 1/1/06 will automatically be taken as a date. '1/1/06 will be accepted as text.

But if you have an entire column/row/range that needs to be formatted as text, then just pre-format the cells as Karen suggested.
