Stupid file size problem

Hi,
my son is having some trouble with his powerpoint file
at his school the file (MS powerpoint 2000)the file is 353kb once he brought it home did some work and saved it as the ms 2000 file type the file went from 353kb to 3.2mb ! i got him to bring the raw file home and just saved it again and the file size went up again! so it isnt anything he has added

We are working on a win98se pc runnin powerpoint 2002(XP)

I don't have version 2002, but when you save the file at home, try doing a save as and in the drop down for file type, see if there is an option to save as excel 2000 file.
