Hi Experts,

i am in the same boat, trying to study for my CCNA, any suggestion where i can get the studying materials from ?

i have experience in networking from studying Microsoft's style, as for Cisco, i am currently running a router at home on my ADSL, need to know more on the IOS command.
typing help or ? after a command tells me some, but not really how or what they use for.......

Does Cisco provide any cds or material for this ?
Some one gave me a Transcender on CCNA, just wonder if that is any good ?

help is really really appriciated

pick up the Cisco CCNA Exam certification guide book. This has a cd for practice exams and is one of the better study guides. Do not pay much attention to any brain dumps. Jeter@LasVegas.com Remember to pass Cisco's CCNA you need at least an 849 to pass!!!

USE SYBEX CCNA VIRTUAL LAB, COMES WITH SIMULATED NETWORK ENVIRONMENT. ONE OF THE BEST TO PASS CCNA TEST.

Hello--Just curious on some of the advantages and disadvantages of CBT VS. INSTRUCTOR. I have a chance to go to a instructor lead class. For CCNA cert, but unfortunatly I need to convince my boss --any help is appreciated. Thanks

This would depend on what you already know about cisco applications. The instructor lead class usually a week long will move rather fast between topics. A CBT self pace will allow you to go over a certain area as many times as needed.
If you have worked with routers for some time than go with the instructor. Good Luck !!! J.Fisher CCNA

In my humble opinion, the best CCNA study guide out there is Laura Chappel's Introduction to Cisco Router Configuration.

There is no contest between CBT and Instructor led courses -instructor led classes give you hands-on training & a chance to ask questions about areas you don't understand.

I partially agree with jeter about needing experience if you take an instructor-led training course:

1) the courses at Cisco certified training centers are indeed fast-paced & not for beginners - but the instructors are constrained to only teaching the offical Cisco course material (which tends to cover only 80% of exam material to keep the pass-rate low :-( )

2) courses at smaller, non-certified training centers tend to be better for the newbie as they often incorporate additional lessons & labs into the courses, they focus on job skills as well as exam questions - plus they are much, MUCH cheaper! They are still fast-paced though.

Good Luck! X-)

Thank you very much for all the info and links
