Hi All.

Hopefully someone can help me with this.
I found some FREE (yes!!!) sample test questions from Avaya-Learning, as I have to re-certify my credentials, and I have a question here that doesn't seem to make sense to me.

It is something like:

When dialling a number on the IPO, what takes priority?
extn #, outgoing line group, Route ID, system short code.

I have gone to the ip office knowledge base but can't seem to find an answer that makes sense.

Anyone know what and why the answer is?

Help is appreciated.

Regards

ext is first. then short code. I assume Route ID means ARS. Not sure why it would ever look to the line group.

Thanks Budbyrd.

I thought there was something... fishy about that. As soon as you start dialing, unless you pick an outgoing access code i.e. 9, the system starts comparing against extensions then shortcodes.

So I'm not losing my mind...

:-D

Pretty sure the tests are written by people who have never touched an IPO...

If I recall it right, then it is about this:
extension
User shortcodes
System shortcodes
ARS shortcodes

It is a long time ago for me, so I could be wrong.
It is definitely documented somewhere.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Hi tlpeter.

I did some digging through my OLD 9.1 books and it appears as if you are correct.

Found in manager help under User Dialing:

The following precedence is used to determine which short codes are used:
Extension number matches override all short codes.
User short codes override user rights and system short codes.
User Rights short code matches override system short codes.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.
