I used to be a Avaya SA, but now designing an IVR to be used on a Cisco system (Version 4.3 I think) A developer told me that it was not possible to take an audio file from a studio (.wav, .mp3, .ulaw...) and import it into the system. All recordings MUST be recorded directly into the system using an office phone. I want to call BS... but needed to back it up first. Can someone tell me the procedure to convert, or a conversion codec to use to import these files.

Thanks,
Bill

Are you referring to the prompts? Of course they can be recorded in a studio. Or a pc for that matter as long as they are the correct format or converted to the correct format. Here is the format requirements:

•Bit Rate: 64 kbps
•Audio sample size: 8 bit
•Channels: 1 (mono)
•Audio sample rate: 8 kHz
•Audio format: CCITT u-Law

I use Audacity, it's free and it works great.
