After 30 years in the Trade installing ton's of equipment and every more tons of cable I am calling it quits due to a workplace injuries. I will be starting classes in the Fall in some sort of IT related field: If I ask a question, am I a Student or a Professional?

If you are asking for a peer opinion, just my 2 cents:

If you are taking classes, then the subject matter of those classes relates to you in the role of student, as would any questions arising therefrom.

If your reported work experience is accurate, then if you ask a question related to a current or prior job, that places you in the role of trades-person posting appropriately to a forum.

Really, I think your inquiry is better directed to one of the site Admins.
