Hi There,

I'm trying to test a Cisco AP350/Wireless at home before I get involved with the Wireless set-up at the office.

I'm using the default settings for the Access Point (including IP of 10.0.0.1) and this is connected to my PC (10.0.0.2) by Cat5 and I'm using my laptop (10.0.0.3) as a client.

However for some reason, the desktop and AP are not seeing each other and I can't get in to the Browser configuration.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I might get this up and running?

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Thanx!

bdx!

There should be included a CD to use if your are trying to configure the AP through ethernet and not the managment cable.

Do you have a link? The 350AP is expecting to be attached to a switch/hub. Do you have an ehternet crossover cable in between the AP and the PC?

Thanks for the advice guys. I didn't think of using a crossover. I'll give that a try and let you know how it works out.

i think this is what you need to do...Make sure the PC your are intend to use is configured to obtain IP address automatically. Then open up the brownser and type en You need to use the IP address of the AP to get into the configuration page. Hope this help!!!

Thanks for your replies guys. I've gotten into the browser config fine now but I've got a new problem.

The AP is working fine and my laptop can see, connect and authenticate to the wireless network but the laptop can't see the desktop on there.

I can browse to the Access Point via Internet Explorer on the desktop and it shows the AP connected and I'm pretty sure the network settings under Windows are okay (Workgroup = MSHOME on both machines)

However, the laptop and desktop still can't see each other. Any ideas?

Thanks again!

1. The desktop has an IP set in the same subnet as the wireless network.
2. Client for Microsoft Networking, File and Printer Sharing, TCP/IP all installed both machines.
3. Netbios over TCP/IP enabled, both machines. This setting is found under TCP/IP Properties, Advanced, DNS tab.
4. Logon is made with a username and password; no blank or empty passwords used.
5. Something, anything: Drive, Folder, Printer shared on both devices.
6. No firewalls enabled on the LAN connection, including "hidden" firewall components of some antivirus software such as PC-Illan.
7. Computer names are unique, workgroup name identical.
8. The IP of the router is used as the Gateway address, both machines.

what version of vxworks do you have on the AP?
You never mentioned if you have basic connectivity. Can you ping the AP from both units and can you ping from the laptop to the desktop and vice-versa using their ip addresses? If you can then refer to bcastners list above...
