I have built 2 pages groups on my 3300 mxe running 4.0 sp3. I have 2 buildings and 2 page zones.

In building A we have user 25001 and page zone 25.

In building B we have user 25608 and page zone 26.

User 25001 and 25608 are both using the same COS which allows paging.

I am getting a not allowed message when 25001 tries to page zone 25 but recieve no errors when we attempt to page the other zone.

]When I go to building B I have no problems paging zone 26 from extension 25608. On top of that 25608 and page zone 25 as well with no problems. Does anyone have an idea where this not allowed is coming from since I can page one zone but not the other?

Update:

I deleted the page zone 25 and reccreated it with the same members and still get not allowed.

Since I could page zone 25 from ext 25608 @ building B, I brought that extension to building 1 and attempted to page the same zone. I am now getting not allowed.

The only difference now that I can think of is just the vlan and IP settings. There are no other issues at this site besides this right now.

Make sure you are lifting handset for all tests.

Give set at site 1 the same cos as your IP trunks at site 1 and test again.

Definately doing that.. I already made myself look like an idiot on that one a few months back.

I could be wrong, but I was under the impression page group DNs had to be unique and not conflict with extension numbers. 25 would conflict with 25608. I realize that you don't dial the page group directly, but after the direct page fac, but I still think they have to be unique.

ok that would kind of make sense for the ones that are working, ill create a zone of 19 for the 25001 users and see what happens.

Well the network addresses are definately having something to do with this. I brought the phone over to a different subnet and it no longer recieves not allowed while trying to page thier building. But then you bring it back to where it belongs and were back to not allowed. Whats odd is we dont have any problems doing a direct page to a single phone in this building. does anyone know what type of network traffic a page is? Is it a multicast? Has anyone ever seen Not allowed on the telephone for a network related issue?

It doesn't sound like a network issue, the phone wouldn't display 'not allowed' if that were the case. Perhaps when you brought the phone over it registered with the local controller instead?

Paging (IP) uses individual E2T channels for each page endpoint.

Ok that last little tidbit definately helped out. Not allowed is what is displaying on these phones. After you mentioned not allowed could be a network issues, I checked the switch config. I found the uplink port was a trunk port allowing just the data and voice traffic. After chaing this port to permit all vlans it worked fine.

Er, actually I said it could NOT be...glad it helped, but I still don't understand what went wrong/right. Are you saying that no signaling was allowed between the systems? If so, how were they trunked to begin with?
