Help ! Second time setting up printers in Unix.
I have set up x3 hp4000 printers using jetadmin. I can print to all.
However each printer requires x3 queues (as below)

10 pitch from tray 1 portrait
12 pitch from tray 1 landscape
12 pitch from tray 2 portrait

I cant figure out how to do this. Can it be done in jetadmin are there any printer config files.
I have done a man on lpadmin but this did not help.

Sun Solaris 5.7

it is an option of lp.
Just add the printers.

You have to set the printers up in your application.
lp -oportrait
lp -olandscape
lp -otray2 -o12 -oportrait

This is not tested.

Working on Sol 2.6 with HP8500

The way that I did it was to define this at the printer level. i.e. a separate printer for each paper size. This takes it out of the hands of the user and just gives them a set option per print queue.

I also gave each group ID a different set of "printers" which were in reality the same printer but with different output trays (to cut down on riffling through other peoples print jobs with sticky fingers !)

I did this on the print server running JetAdmin, but exactly how I couldn't say (it was a good 18 mnths ago now).
Getting NT to use the same printer at the same time was more hassle.

Sorry this is short on technical info, but it can be done, keep trying !
