I use SQL to backup the SQL databases for a Sharepoint Portal site and stsadm.exe for the Sharepoint sites. When stsadm.exe runs every night at 10:45pm the event logs show the following:
'The driver for device \Device0\Harddisk0\DR0 delayed non-paging IO requests for 15ms to recover from a low memory condition.'
Volume Shadow Service is not running at the time stsadm.exe is run.
Could this be an issue in regards to not enough RAM to process for the stsadm.exe. Once the backup finishes the error message ceases.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
David

Hello,

I would not think it is a RAM memory problem. I sounds more like something is leaking memory or a driver is not working properly. I did a quick search about the problem, maybe you can find some more info.

I do not think it just has to do with stsadm.exe tool itself. What is your server specs? How much memory, disk. Is the SQL for sharepoint on the same machine? Have you tried copying lots of files of different sizes and see if you get errors then?

Regards,
Thomas

Thanks Thomas, the Event ID:119 only shows up at the time stsadm.exe runs the backups. From the links you prvided I don't think it is a big issue because it corrects itself when the backups complete.
Again Thanks,
David
