I know the difference between

struts-html-el.tld
struts-html.tld

is the ability to use expression languages. But how do you determine when to use one or the other. Why not always use struts-html-el.tld so you have the expression language capability? Is there a performance hit, so the html-el should only be used for specific fields that require it?

Thanks,

Hi,

In short, struts-html-el.tld does everything that the struts-html.tld library does, but it uses the JSTL EL engine to evaluate attribute values. The one drawback to using Struts-EL is that it requires a web container supporting the Servlet 2.3 specification.

Cheers,
Venu

i have been using struts for more than 2 years and have accountered all kinds of forms imaginable. i also use JSTL instead of the remaining struts tag-libs and i have yet to need the EL library.
