Stroking Text

Hi,

Flash 8 Pro.

Is there any way to add stroke to text? Much like Photoshop's stroke in the layer styles?

I wanted to keep the flash bit light and not have to import a graphic of the text with the desired stroke.

You can use GlowFilter class to get similar stroke effect. (Only works for Flash Player 8+)

There is a way to stroke text using the graphic tools and it would work in other versions of Flash (pre Flash 8).


To stroke letters in Flash using graphic tools :

Type the word

Break apart the word into letters and then again

Modify>Shape>Soften Fill Edges (set to 6 and 2)

Individually select the inner part of the word and move it to another part of the canvas

This should leave a soft outline of the letter.

Fill the letters with the color of your choice.

Then make the entire word a symbol.
