You folks always think out "of the box", how about this one..
Is there anyway I can attach a strobe light to a Merlin Magix MLX 16 set? This will be use in a high DB area where the ringer just doesn't do it. I tried two sets and still no good..

You need to use an MFM adjunct attached to the bottom of the MLX-16 set. You cannot do it directly. Then, put a primary cover button on the MFM adjunct for the MLX-16 phone. When that phone rings - so will the strobe flash - assuming the strobe is connected via an RJ11 jack.

I forgot, you should turn ringing off on the MLX-16. The MFM has a single, regular RJ11 jack that you can use to trigger the strobe.

Or, if you already have S/L ports, wire the strobe to that and cover the MLX set.

If you have an open analog port you can wire the strobe or even a worbel ringer to it and program a primary cover button on it for the MLX phone.

I have done it with the worbel wringer in factories with very good success but I never tried it with a strobe.

tdaugirdas,

How much does a MFM and strobe cost,,, about?

Thanks for your help,

Tracy Carpenter (xs-tech) on eBay usually has them in the $10 - $20 range. I have no idea what they would cost from an Avaya dealer - but I am sure a lot more. As for the strobe - again - I would check on eBay under networking, telephone system components. I have seen quite a few of them for sale at reasonable prices - they use them a lot in factories and other similar locations where a visual alert is needed.
