Hi All

You can have stripy worksheets by using conditional formatting. As the condition will be based on row numbers - it isn't effected by row deletions.

Select the area to 'make stripy'.

FORMAT|CONDITIONAL FORMATTING...

Change 'cell value' is to 'formula is'

Enter the formula =MOD(ROW(),2)

Then click FORMAT to change the format and set the PATTERN to an attractive colour.

Not exactly a helpful hint but pretty.

I just thought this was too cool... I totally agree it's stupid but pretty.

You can make the bands thicker by doing this:
=MOD(ROW(),4) (change the 4 to your number, every Xth row will be unformated).

Try combining the function with Column() to get some checked patterns.

And if you really want to FREAK your users out, do this:
=(RAND()*1>0.5)

Every time the sheet calculates, another set of random cells will change formatting.
