How and what files can I cut to make W2kp an absolute single user system, without all the bells and whistles?
I do nothing but very large grahpic image (stills) processing (50 mbs per layer), on a P4 1.4 2gb RDRAM box, & 128 mb ATI card, and I need more speed. BillBerit

It sounds like you have a nice system. Since I don't know what files you have or what your system looks like no one can tell what files to remove. to increase the speed try
these optons:

*defraging your drive
*get norton utilities and use speed disk
*try a different HD ATA 133 or SCSI
*Since your into graphics, get the Radeon 9700 graphics card. it's the best card they have out there.

As I said, a P4/1.4/W2k with all the fixes, ups, mods!
I defrag weekly. Clean daily and restart between images.

Norton's speed disk is a toy!I don't run anything else on my work box, except the graphics, s/W!!! I'm on my old PII/300 for online comm. and that uses F-Prot protection!

200 gb scsi's are the only way ($$$), without jamming the bus and allocations. But the cost is not worth it. I'd buy a SUN system first! Big $$$$

The Ati 9700 is the card I have! There's better out there! $$$

What I've been told by other graphics pros is, the only way a PC will support multi HD's, is through a server/hub set up. This will let the workstation run full blast and only use the storage drives when needed!

RDRAM is very expensive, but it is many times faster than SDRAM or DDRAM because it runs at 600 or 800 or 1000 per sec. The other's stall at 133!

I wish there was a MB that held 6 gb or more of RDRAM! The most I've found on an Intel MB is 2 gb (mine).

The real problem is, "PC" really means "Peasant Crap" and I will have to win the lottery to get a commercial system.

Thanks for the help!

Bill
