Hi, all!

I'm using CR 8.5 and would like to display RTF-coded text in my report. But unfortunately my column ReportText which is declared as varchar(4000) in MSSQL is identified as string(255) as there's no option to change this. So text is always truncated. Is it limit in Crystal Reports or I have a chance to produce report?

This is the limit in Crystal Reports 8.5 which has been "fixed" in version 9.

You can split this field into a number of 255 character fields by using formulas.

Odd...

I have a varchar(4000) in a SQL Server and it's defined as a Memo field, which is the default.

Check your connectivity type, perhaps that's screwing things up, or perhaps someone has used a View or SQL Expression to convert it.

OK.

If the only way to resolve problem is upgrade to 9.0 version let's do that ...
