String Fields Longer than 127 chars

I am having some problems with CR. My database hold values as strings (255 chars) when I connect to the database via CR this becomes a memo. I need this to stay as a string. If i change my schema.ini to char width 10 then the CR report has a 20 character value but only displays 10. Can anyone help?

CR can't manipulate the string of over 255 as a string. No workaround unless you can create a view to return chunks of the formula as shorter strings.
