HI

I've created a Projector that uses the camtasia componant to run a video. Everything works fine, but when I put it onto CD the first time that the video loads it takes a very long time to load the video (like 3 minutes and counting.) I have used a small preloader ehich I enabled in camtasia. but that also takes forever to load when it is first played from cd.

The strange thing is that if you exit the projector (or right click rewind and play) and reload it again. the video plays fine with no waiting at all.

I assume it is something to do with loading into ram for the first time.

The video is about three minutes, and is a 30mb ish swf. I used about 90% compression when making the swf. (preloader is tiny btw)

On the intro to the presentation there is a video file embedded into the projector and this plays first time, no problem.

Is there anyway of loading the video to ram b4 it is required)

(Ive tried it on 3 different PCs and its the same with all three (and theyre fast mahines)

any help would be cool

Thanks in advance

I don't know anything about the Camtasia component and/or if it's actually preloading the complete video, before it has it play... Would suggest you import your video (compress it even more if you can accept the loss in quality) and set it in it's own external .swf, and then preload this external .swf to some extent (30% or more), and start it playing while the rest keeps downloading in the background. That might reduced the "apparent" preloading time. Of course, once the external movie is cached (after the initial dowload), it would be normal that the video movie re-appear almost instantly.
