Hi all,

Not sure if this is the correct forum for this, as I don't think it is a specific HTML problem.

Situation is: I have a desktop PC running Win98 and IE 5.5, when viewing a number of different HTML pages in IE, the View->Source menu item is greyed out.

Now, there is nothing unusual about these pages, just standard HTML and CSS (no scripting of any kind). This doesn't happen with all pages, just a few, and other machines running the same configuration don't have this problem.

Any thoughts on why this might be occuring and how it may be fixed would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance,
Dave

What websites does this happen on?? I have not failed; I merely found 100,000 different ways of not succeding...

These are all intranet sites that are in development, so unfortunately I can't direct you to them. I'm thinking that the problem is more with IE than with the code, as other machines don't have this problem with the same pages.

I was just wondering if anyone had encountered this behaviour before...

This same thing occurs on my work pc Windows 2000 IE 5.5 running on NT network. It seems if I view 20-30 sites without closing and opening a new browser the view source just goes away. I also experienced it with win98 before our upgrade. Could not find anything at Microsofts site though. DeZiner

Internet Options -> Security -> Local Intranet -> Custom Level Button -> make sure the option for access data sources across domains is enable...if that doesn't work then hit the 'default Settings' button I have not failed; I merely found 100,000 different ways of not succeding...

There's another possibility too: if for some reason the browser does not think that the page has completed loading, the view source option will be greyed out. Tracy Dryden
