Hello,

we've experimented a swap exhaustion under our aix this week-end ;-)

after rebooting the OS, we've found some tapes with strange names, prefixed with ~ (spanish tilde) and suffixed with -1, like that : ~0D0123-1

Has anyone seen that ?

Thanks.

This looks like a defective media database. If you can not repair it with nsrck, you should recover it with mmrecov.

I've seen it many times, but not sure it is the exact same problem. What I've usually seen is that a few volumes have had multiple entries in the media database. One with the correct "barcode" match and one starting with the ~.

I usually just wait for them till they expire and then deletes the one starting with ~. I think there are plenty of examples on powerlink how to solv these errors.

Also if you are having duplicates, you should be able to delete the ~ one if your original looks ok, ie all save sets has been recorded on the orignial tape name.
