Strange VB Net 2005 Occurrance

Just wondering if anyone else has seen this. I downloaded VB net Express 2005 and installed it. My OS is WinXp, SP2. After installing both VB net 2005 and SQL 2005 express, my regular paths got destroyed!!!!! I attempted to to an ipconfig and got a message that ipconfig wasn't a recognised command.

I started a command prompt, and typoed Path. There was no mention of the c:\windows directory at all.

Any one else seen this before????
